This is not the first time it has happened. I mean the PM’s silence on a grave national issue. What am I talking about? The loss of investors’ millions of dollars. That’s what I am talking about.
Why is the PM so silent? Why it is the SM and not the PM who is talking?
Govt ready to ease pain
BAD times may lie ahead but the Government is ready to help, said Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong last night.
He sent out this message of hope even as he gave a realistic sense of the possible fallout from the global financial crisis.
He gave three reasons for why Singapore, as it prepares for a global downturn, can be confident of emerging from the crisis stronger than ever.
First, the Government is ready to provide help if bad times come, he said at a Marine Parade GRC Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
In fact, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has asked Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam to start thinking of ways to help Singaporeans, particularly lower-income groups, and companies in the Budget next year, he said.
Remember Mas Selemat’s escape? http://wherebearsroamfree.blogspot.com/search/label/Mas%20Selamat
It was Wong (kena) Kan Seng who did the talking and got the brunt of Singaporean’s criticism. And what was PM’s words when he (finally) said something? A nonchalant “It has happened, what to do?” remark!
So where is the PM, who is directly in charge of the Monetary Authority of Singapore? MAS used to be under the Finance Ministry but is now under the PM’s Office. Shouldn’t the PM rather than SM be making statements? Will PM when he finally says something again be, “it has happened, what to do?”
I find it amazing that PAP has been telling us that we need to pay top dollars to our top leaders. Yet, the leader of the leaders appears to be incapable of handling two national crises that happened in a period of less than 2 years.
What PM has shown that he is capable of, is to get the media to hyper up concerns that are mundane in nature. Most notable is the “Let’s clear up the tables” issue.
Here is an excerpt, highlighting PM’s point in his National Rally Speech. Hah, a PM talking about clearing tables when he’s supposed to be looking at national and international issues.

I think she must have been a very nice lady but the people who behaved so well to her flew the flag for Singapore. We don’t know who they are but we should thank them. We can do even better, of course. We have a Singapore Kindness Movement and it conducts surveys of social behaviours that Singaporeans consider important and not important and they showed me a list of the different things. Quite interesting – not important, or considered not important doesn’t mean really not important but considered important at least shows me where some of the problems are. So some of the things we are good at are sitting properly at the cinema. Don’t put your feet on the chair in front of you. Very difficult for tall people like me. Say thank you after being served – that people remember, But other things we are not so good. Say please is not so common. Clear tables and return food trays – we need to improve. We are trying to inculcate this habit. I don’t understand. Every national service man knows exactly what to do in his cookhouse. Maybe we need more reservists training. But at Suntec City, no reservists, no NSmen, it’s going to take time to change the mindset because the mindset is I go to the food courts to eat and not to clean tables. So I got a letter recently from somebody, a lady, an email, talking exactly about this, about how we should make Singapore a more happy place to live. And she mentioned this. She said “Actually we should feel quite embarrassed to leave our dirty plates and dirty tables for the next diner. In my Mum’s house, after eating we will clear our plates and clean the table. This is a good habit we should adopt outside the home”. Then she went on to add, “Oh yes, most importantly, no fines, no fines. Dishing out fines hurts relationships and no good image for PAP Government.” So I thank her for her good wishes. We shall try and find some ways before thinking about fines.
He got an email from a lady about clearing up tables, and he takes it up, but thousands of investors lost millions and he is silent on that?
Well, we have obviously overpaid an incompetent leader who is unable to handle national crises, so the media has to make him look good, highlighting a very mundane but pertinent domestic problem.
Putting it in another way, by the sound of (PM's) silence (on national crises), we know we have overpaid an incompetent leader to be at the top.
It has happened. What to do?

Silence is golden, words of wisdom indeed. At least our PM is aware of this quote.
However, if anyone can prove our PM is competent, I will prove that my balls can laugh. LOL
His dad asked him to shut up in case he screw up further! So, as usual SM Goh have to do the dirty job for him, its an order, not an obligation duh!
If you follow SG politics, you will see that this PM only say good things, bad news and so on others will do it for him.
He has almost zero leadership and obviously needs others to carry his PM-ship.
He liked the warmth of his seat, sitting there doing nothing much must be a good feeling.
PM Lee was the previous Finance Minister too, he should be "qualified" to comment.
Unless he was just warming the seat at the Finance Ministry before he moved to the PM's seat.
there is talk that MAS should not have allowed minibonds to be sold to retailers - Reasd this

Not sure -was PM Lee also the finance minister when this was launched? Was this fiasco started under PM Lee's watch? Most likely.
Interesting to watch who in parliament would ask the right questions - and check if MAS was sleeping on the job.
Which other country's PM has so many Ministers of State in PM's office? Uniquely Singapore indeed! Heard the spare ministers are there to share the workload coz daddy afraid boy-boy get cancer relapse.
In effect, the structured deposits were being sold as 'special offer', high-yield fixed deposits.
How can we expect a cancer-sick man to lead a country in a healthy way?
When Indonesia was led by a blind and lame man, Indonesia was blind and lame. Therefore, when Singapore is led by a sick man, Singapore is surely going to be sick -
our suicide rate has gone up by 36 percent,
our economy is going down down and down,
our jobs are going to foreigners,
our factories are running away to other countries,
our talented young men and women are emigrating to other countries,
our old people are getting conned day in and day out by cunning sharks led in by the sleeping gatekeepers who are busy counting their fat undeserved salaries,
our medical fees are getting skyrocketing high and beyond the reach of ordinary folks,
our cpf money are being sentenced to life imprisonment without committing any offence,
our prices of essential goods and services, gst and erp are going up and up and more and more,
our CEOs are getting greedier and more cunning by the days,
our ethics and morals are being thrown to the winds,
our MPs are only part-timers serving not the people by their LORD ......
our Ministers would go to private sector if not paid millions of dollars as ransom money for attempting to be non-corrupt .....
our retired leaders refused to retire but insist upon drawing pensions plus two or more other regular sources of income yet got the cheek to say that they are not there for monetary gains .....
our most-wanted alleged terrorist Mas Selamat can simply limped away from our high-security ISD jail guarded by our elite guards under the watchful eyes of our elite ISD men/women .....
Can you find another country in this world that one PM supported by one MM, one SM, two DPM to manage 4.5 million population. So, he is either so sick or ????
So many people to learn from especially from Mahatir!
So many wannabees with no voices or leadership in one crisis situation!
so many people to run a city state or even a table tennis association!
So many so sos - they are only so so after all!
MM not yet open mouth, PM sure quiet like a mouse, what to do, it has happened.Mee Rebus my hiam.
How to talk about it? GIC and Temasek were also taken to the cleaners by investing in those troubled banks. Talk about licking wounds. I think they are afraid to open their mouths. Don't talk about that old man getting conned too - hor!
It's always easy to comment and point fault at others. When the PM has capable MPs helping to take on the tasks, why are you expecting him to talk too much? He should be spending time in planning ahead; the economy is not going to stop just a few million is lost by a handful of people. The PM has the responsibility to look at the big picture and what's going to come in the near future.
In so many comments made, most if not all are just complianing, is there any of you can propose any solution to the issue? Finger pointing is always easy. Come show me your capability ... tell me your solution ....
A few million lost by a handful of people only? Why are we electing people into office who are getting paid millions for, if we have to help in solving problems?
What is the point of paying million dollars to "elected leaders" when they cannot lead? It would look even more stupid for them, if the common people can provide viable solutions for them.
Can you guarantee payment of several million sing dollars to some smart blokes out there who have workable solutions ?
I can give one solution for free, and that is to sack the morons in the PAP. Surely we can identify them by now. I will not take issue with anyone who even suggests they are all morons. The biggest moron is the one who puts a turtle to be our PM. The public must acknowledge that the only way to sack these morons is to vote them out at the next election. Anything less means we want all the fiascos to repeat again.
This is not pointing finger as some idiots would have others believe. This is called ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY! When you are paid the world's highest salary and bonuses as representatives of the people, you had better be on-the-ball all the time and show your leadership in times of crisis. If not, you ought to take the blame (not pointing fingers) and step down. Let others who are more capable lead the country.
If any idiot want to continue to insist upon ordinary commentators and citizens to provide solutions for ministers, he/she should go and get his head inspected by a doctor/psychiatrist. He/she must have a screw loose or two.
If our PM is competent, why do he need 2 DPM, 1 SM and 1 MM to help him to clear out the mess? 1 PM and 1 DPM is enough, we are a very tiny small country no need so many big shot to run the country and wasting our nation money paying them, doing nothing to help us poor people.
