Singapore vely the effishen – lost one JI tellolist, capture anudder one

If today’s 1st of April, I would probably think it’s an April Fool’s joke. So the ISD has arrested yet another JI member – to take Selamat’s place. That surely will restore Singapore’s image, right? This has to be a joke, right?

Let’s divert a little. I have to tell you this joke which I heard because the arrest of another JI member, in view of Selamat’s spectacular and unexplained escape, reminds me of it.

Narrator: There was once a man who had gangrene on his right leg. It was so bad, the doctors decided to amputate his leg.

Audience: Hey, this sounds gross. Are you sure it’s a joke?

Narrator: Of course it is! And it’s a very funny one too!

Silence before Narrator continues: So what happened was that he was wheeled into the operating room. After the operation, the surgeon, with a serious face, spoke to the patient.

Surgeon: You know, I have got the good news, and I’ve got the bad news.

Patient: Holy Shit! What’s this supposed to mean? Tell me the bad news first.

Surgeon: We cut off the wrong leg.

Patient (in an alarmed voice): Holy Stinking Shit! If that’s the bad news, what’s the good news?

Surgeon (with a hearty laugh): Your other leg is getting better!

Ok, ok. Now replace “surgeon” above with “PAP” and “patient’ with “Singaporeans”. I think you get the picture.

Rijal Yadri Jumari, 27, was arrested in February for his involvement in the terrorist group, the Home Affairs Ministry said on Sunday.

The ISA order against Rijal was issued three days ago.

What the ???? Arrested in February and now the gov’t tells us? What’s with the month long silence?

I know – Singapore’s image has been battered worldwide due to Selamat’s slick escape, a la David Copperfield. So there has to be another story to rebuild Singapore’s image – the arrest of another JI member.

PAP: Hey, Singaporeans, let’s put Selamat behind us. I know everyone is cursing because of the long jams at the checkpoints or what not, but look at the bright side – we have caught another terrorist! Hahahahaaaaa.

Personally, I think it is a sick joke. Take note that the ISA order came only 3 days ago, while the arrest was made in February.

This means that the arrest of Rizal was based on a non-ISA order. This also has to mean that there was a charge spelt out to him.

Well, what was the charge? Is it abetting terror? Well, if it is, then just charge him! What the heck do we need the ISA order for? To replace the lost Selamat?

I say this is a real sick joke!


Yeah, we cut off your wrong leg, but don’t worry, your other leg is getting better! Just be thankful you can still hop and you are not wheelchair bound! Hahahaaaaaaa.
